Our new shop truck is complete! We picked this beauty up a few months ago and it was a wreck. After a lot of sanding/body work and some engine work this is what she looks like now! We can’t wait for summer to cruise around with all the doors open.
Here is a shot with the top decking on and the bottom being prepped for decking. The rail boards had to be planed at an angle to match the curve of the bottom for the decking to sit flat so it can be screwed into place. We were wondering why Thomas Blake had to use [...]

Here the tail block is being test fit. Notice that it is oversized to allow for the skins/rails to be added and then it can be shaped to match.
Here is a shot of the begining stages of the nose buck. This will have to be shaped to match after the skins installed.
I figured I would do two posts today to show a bit more. This is the ribs after all of the weight removal. Next step is putting the inner rail strips on!
This is the start of making templates for the ribs for a hollow wooden surfboard similar to boards that were used ca. 1937 by Thomas Blake. We are hoping to keep this as a photo blog build so look for updates frequently.
I just wanted to post this as a reminder that cut off for Christmas custom orders is Thanksgiving weekend! This will give us enough time to make a perfect hand crafted board. We are currently building 20 or so new in stock boards that will be in the shop racks around December 1st. Happy Hollowdays!
