One of our good friends and customers asked us if we could restore one of his favorite boards. It was a big Greg Noll gun that they think was once Miki Dora’s personal board. We jumped at the chance. Upon first inspection we thought the board would be an easy restoration because it looked pretty good on the outside. It did have an older restoration done to it so it looked pretty good. Our favorite boards to restore are boards that have never been touched. That way we don’t have any surprises when we start to sand. Boards with previous restoration work sometimes leads to trouble because you have to fix the previous fixes before you can move on to the new restoration. We found out that this would be the case on this restoration. When the owner was doing the background research on the board he found a picture of how the board looked when it was new. The board was used in an advertisement in one of the old 60’s surf magazines. The current yellow panels and black competition stripes were added later during the previous restoration but looked nothing like the original. Our task was to bring her back to her 60’s glory.
