The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight.

All surfers competing in this competition are invited to collect additional funds for the March of Dimes. Extra donations are a great way to show support for such an important cause. In the past funds were collected most easily through the surfer’s generous friends and neighbors.
Simply tell friends and neighbors the facts! Tell them you are raising money to help save the lives of infants. Let them know that 150,00 babies are affected every year by potentially fatal birth defects.
Using such a technique a competitor from last year raised around $500. Anyone who brings a donation is eligible for additional prizes. Kindly worded recommendations for school/work are available as well for any surfer who desires one. (Just ask Brett Carey and he will be happy to write one for you)
Thank you for your time and interest. In the past concerned and generous people like you raised enough money to aid the March of Dimes in curing Polio.
