Ride for a Cause Virginia Beach to Benefit the March of Dimes

We will assemble teams on the beach. All six members of the team will paddle out together in one heat. Each team member’s highest scoring wave will be added to the team total. Members may ride any type of board (long, short, etc…). Team heats are thirty minutes long and the heat will be a final, there are no rounds to this division.

This division is not based upon riding retro equipment, it is based upon doing retro maneuvers. Judges will be scoring a surfer’s retro style and precision, as well as humorous old school tricks. Normal non-retro based maneuvers will be scored accordingly but a high emphasis is placed on riding retro-style. Each riders two highest wave scores will be tallied.

Shortboarding

Riders will be scored for best maneuvers, wave selection, and style. Each rider's two highest wave scores will be tallied. This division will have cash prizes for the top finalist due to private donors and sponsors supplying the cash prize pot.

Longboard Open

This division is focused upon traditional longboarding maneuvers such as nose riding and carving. Each riders two highest wave scores will be tallied.

All E.S.A. rules and regulations apply including catching no more than ten waves per heat. Please be courteous and kind to all other participants. There will be no more than six participants per heat.

Each first and second place winners will receive a prize. Awards will be given out at the end of the entire contest. Three riders advance through each heat up until the final (with the exception of the team division, see above).

Raffle: Raffle tickets will be given to every contestant and anyone who makes a charitable donation. Raffle prizes include bags of assorted surf related items.

Donations: Please remember that this is a charitable event. All of the money raised goes to fund research to help the 500,000 babies born premature each year. Contestants and non-contestants should feel free to ask friends and neighbors to make donations. Checks are to be made payable to March of Dimes. Who ever shows up with the largest donation will win a prize as well. Questions? Contact Brett Carey @ 409-4735 or OAKLIE14@aol.com
